    Sunscreen Ruining Nail Polish

Have you ever applied sunscreen, only to find your newly manicured nails soft and almost sticky!?

I just did my nails on Sunday with my favorite color of OPI nail polish, Miami Beet. But yesterday, I went running and it was sunny, so I slathered on a liquid T-Shirt by means of 70 SPF sunscreen on all exposed limbs. Now, my perfect, glossy manicure is matte and soft and getting little dents & knicks in it!

I just googled to find out why sunscreen ruins nail polish, and it seems as though sunscreens usually contain an "emulsifying agent" that is almost identical to one of the agents in nail polish remover. So it slowly dissolves nail polish. The only way to combat this is to wear gloves while applying the sun screen and/or use the spray type of sunscreen instead of the kind that you rub on like lotion.

And the only way to remediate the problem once it's occurred is to apply another layer of topcoat to halt the agent from softening your nail polish.

    Just an FYI.

How infuriating!!! Not a problem for me at the moment though because I managed to break a nail by getting my left thumb caught either on my butt or my shorts when doing a bow and arrow last week so I can't wear nail polish till it's grown back or it will look very odd! Actually my nails have taken a real battering this week.

Ouch! Everything on me seems to be taking a battering, lately! I must look like I was hit by a train in my aerial arts classes with all my pole bruises and mummified with white athletic tape! I have pole bruises ALL over my legs from trying the Falling Star Combo so many times. And then I am finally able to climb the spanish web in my aerial arts class, so I went to open gym last Tuesday and climbed the thing like 50 times, which ended up ripping skin off my finger and foot. AND the toenail that I bashed on the pole a few months ago fell off recently. So I have athletic tape EVERYWHERE and bruises ALL over me!

Now I know what you mean! Nearly the same thing happened to me today while practicing the pencil from CKR! I didn't rip off/break any nails, but I did feel how you must have done so.

The other integral part of that move is to catch your thumb in your drawers and accidentally pull them off whilst lowering your butt over your hands!

This move is called "The Accidental Stripper!" ROFL!

Hahahahahah!!! Now that is skill! I'd probably get them half way down and then my feet would be all snagged up and I'd fall to my death.

As an update: I just bought Neutrogena Age Shield Face Sunblock Spf 55 (for my face, to apply underneath my Daytime moisturizer) and Target brand Sport Sunscreen (continuous spray, 55 SPF)
And neither of these products ruin my nailpolish!
